Travelling in Cape Verde

“Pantera” is the new co-creation of Clara Andermatt and João Lucas, a homage for the Cape Verdean singer-songwriter Orlando Pantera. It will premiere at CCB (Lisbon), in March 2022.

This month, both are traveling in Cape Verde for an artistic residency for research for this new project. In the company of Darlene Barreto, Pantera's daughter, and the film director Catarina Alves Costa, who will be directing the making of video, are in Santiago island. They will visit several cultural and social points of interest, such as São Lourenço dos Órgãos, Pantera's birthplace, or Santa Catarina, to attend the annual festival, which will be one of the highlights of this artistic research.

Still in Santiago, in the city of Praia, the artistic directors will have several meetings with institutional partners, and will direct an audition for some local guest dancers and musicians. In Lisbon, these sessions took place at the ACCCA Studio between October 14 and 22.

Andermatt and Lucas will be present at the 27th edition of Mindelact, one of the most prestigious Cape Verdean festivals, in São Vicente island, which has made its mark on the international artistic scene. The program includes a remake of the piece "CV Matrix 46", by the Raiz di Polon company, which in its original version had Pantera as musical director.

This residency has the support of the Instituto Camões, the Portuguese Cooperation in Cape Verde, the Portuguese Cultural Center in Praia and the City Hall of Santa Catarina. Other support and appreciation for this residency in Cape Verde go to Darlene Barreto, Andreia Falcão Mendes, João Branco, Bob Mascarenhas, Raiz di Polon, Estúdio Gota D'Arte.

Pantera is a production of the Clara Andermatt Company (ACCCA). It is co-produced by Centro Cultural de Belém, Teatro Municipal do Porto, Cineteatro Louletano and Cine-Teatro Avenida.
