BULUKU is the new creation for young audiences by Cape Verdean artist Djam Neguin. The performance is hosted and produced by Companhia Clara Andermatt as part of its strategy to promote, mentor, and support emerging creators.
Drawing on in-depth research into African creation stories and using artificial intelligence and virtual reality software as creative tools, Djam Neguin conceives a multimedia performance that combines live performance with projected audiovisual content (video mapping). The result is a poetic and sensory experience that brings together different artistic languages, creating an immersive and engaging environment accessible to young and family audiences.
The project extends into a series of outreach activities that expand its transdisciplinary dimension, including a post-performance “Talking Circle” and the workshop “My Astronaut Self and the Metaverse,” focused on character creation.
Buluku is an adventure-filled performance. We travel through space with a curious and playful afronaut who creates planets, invents dances, and asks big questions such as: “Where does the world come from?”
On stage, there are toys, moving images, lights, sounds, and a body that is constantly at play. All these elements come together to create worlds inspired by ancient African stories about the origins of the world.
In Buluku, there are no right answers. There is imagination, movement, and discovery. A performance for children and adults to watch, feel, and journey through together.

Since 1994, ACCCA has maintained a strong, continuous, and structuring relationship with Cape Verde, throughout which it has developed numerous projects in cooperation, creation, and artistic exchange.
