Entreaberto | Lisbon

Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation | Auditorium 2

Lab inDança presents its new creation ENTREABERTO on January 26, 2023, at 7pm, in Auditorium 2 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon. The entrance is free.

During the pandemic, Lab inDança started a process of online classes, providing exercises for each performer at home, trying to maintain some proximity and continuity in the work, as far as possible. As a result of this condition, the latest creation of the Lab inDança emerges, the experimental film "Portrait", directed by antónio gil and with artistic direction by Clara Andermatt.

"Portrait" is a journey inside each performer, from questions about themselves and the exteriorization of thoughts and emotions coming from different ways of looking at their own image. The group seeks to rediscover the body through gesture, sound, painting, choice and will, building imaginary and poetic landscapes in a dance that oscillates between reality, dreams and the perception of the performer projecting himself into the world.

Now, we intend to take this search further, recovering the methods used to create a show that opens up the process and the intricacies of this research, so that the audience can follow and understand the path of discovery of each one's unique expression. In an open show/rehearsal format, ENTREABERTO reveals the skeleton of its own creative process, its emotional strength, spontaneous humour, fragilities, as well as the dazzle that comes from collective demand and commitment.

Whether from a question, a drawing, listening to a sound or a song, putting on a prop, challenges of observation and awareness are launched. The stimulus launches the turbulence that seeks the sensation or the reflection on what is seen, on the self and on the other. When the gesture appears, one tries to feel it and investigate it, to find the creative gesture in detriment of the repetitive one. ENTREABERTO surreptitiously opens the rehearsal room door, allowing the audience to peek in and investigate the creation process, observing and building in real time the matter that becomes the show.
