SENSORIANAS | RESEARCH AND REHEARSALS

The new production by Clara Andermatt Company for 2025 arises from an invitation by Estúdios Victor Córdon to Clara Andermatt for the creation and artistic direction of a performance inspired by Iranian culture, as part of the Outros Mundos program.

Outros Mundos is a program by Estúdios Victor Córdon dedicated to migrant communities residing in Portugal. It aims to create works of public sharing and interaction through the study of these cultures. Despite geographical proximity, immigrant communities often remain on the margins of local community life, making them, due to this isolation, potential targets of exclusion and social prejudice.

The creation of this artistic project began with research on Persian culture and mapping the situation of the Iranian community in Portugal. The ACCCA team engaged in conversations with many Iranians living in Portugal, who generously shared their personal experiences and cultural insights. These individual perspectives inspired the thematic path of the piece.

The cast selection was carried out through an audition process. An initial group of 20 performers was formed, leading to the final cast of 5 members: four professional Portuguese dancers and one professional Iranian dancer.

Creation rehearsals have been ongoing since late October 2024. SENSORIANAS is set to premiere on January 31 at 8:00 PM and February 1 at 6:30 PM at Teatro Camões in Lisbon. A national tour will follow, with performances in Guimarães, Aveiro, Loulé, and Viseu.
