“Lisbon Under Stars” is an immersive show that aims at promoting Lisbon’s culture and heritage. Created and produced by the OCUBO studio, in partnership with the archaeological institution Museu Arqueológico do Carmo, this project takes the shape of a multidisciplinary experience, bringing together multimedia projections, dance and music. Shown for the first time in 2018, it was also presented in 2019 and 2020, it attracted over one hundred thousand spectators.
The walls of the ruins of the old convent, known as Ruínas do Carmo, became a three-dimensional screen where the adventures of over 600 years of the History of Lisbon and Portugal are shown. Each moment of the journey is enhanced by the fado of Amália Rodrigues and the poetry of Fernando Pessoa, and features Catarina Furtado (narration); Mariza, Teresa Salgueiro, Rão Kyao, Salvador Sobral, Coro de Câmara Lisboa Cantat, Orquestra de Câmara da GNR, and Tocá Rufar (music); Clara Andermatt (coreography for the dancers Ana Moreno, Bruno Freitas, Elson Márlon, Felix Lozano, Francisca Pinto, Nuno Fernandes, Sérgio Matias and Teresa Alves da Silva); Vhils, Add Fuel, Daniel Eime and Vanessa Teodoro (street art).
“Lisbon Under Stars” received the BEA WORLD award for Best Cultural Event of 2018.
