O Grande Circo Místico (The Great Mystical Circus)

“O Grande Circo Místico” is a feature film by award-winning Brazilian director Cacá Diegues. The plot is based on Jorge de Lima’s 47-line poem “A Túnica Inconsútil” (1938), adapted to the screen by George Moura.

The film tells the story of five generations of the same circus family, from the grand opening of the Great Mystical Circus, in 1910, to the present day.

This large-scale film production was entirely filmed in Portugal, starring big names of Brazilian cinema and television, as well as the Portuguese actors Nuno Lopes and Albano Jerónimo.

Clara Andermatt was invited as choreographer for the film, and Artur Pinheiro for the art direction.
