Started in 2015, “Lab InDança” is a continuous training project that aims at providing to the community in general, and to persons with disabilities in particular, diverse formative and performative experiences in contemporary dance.
The project was launched by the Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira with the purpose of promoting artistic practices for an ever-growing number of denizens, within a policy based on the idea of accessibility to artistic practices as a right and a value for the population.
Clara Andermatt is the artistic director of the project, and her working methods lay on enhancing the singularity of each participant, diluting barriers, instigate challenges, and creating favourable circumstances to promote the reflection on the Self and the Other.
At “Lab InDança” a heterogeneous group of persons from the local communities, work in continuity upon self-awareness, individual expression, the notion of rhythm, and of listening. There are weekly classes throughout the school year, in parallel with the organization of artistic residencies, where professionals from different artistic disciplines are invited to further develop the learning and investigation processes.
The choreography "Dawn at Galamanta" was developed in the ambit of “Lab InDança”, in 2017.
During a three-year period (2019-2021), “Lab InDança” is receiving the support of the PARTIS programme, an initiative of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation that contemplates projects of social inclusion through artistic practices.
